MATT ELLIS - SINGER/SONGWRITER

ARTIST BIO

Matt Ellis is an award-winning independent singer/songwriter and producer whose music channels the spirit of protest, unity, and storytelling. Born in Australia, raised in Hong Kong, and based in the U.S. since 2005, Ellis sings with the conviction and authenticity of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan—those who have long used their voices to champion the people.

Rooted in the traditions of folk, Americana, and rock, Ellis has spent the last two decades touring across the U.S., Australia, Canada, and beyond, performing at festivals and storied venues including The Troubadour, Hotel Cafe, Santa Monica Pier, and Rose Bowl. His lyrics speak truth to power, promote inclusivity, and ignite conversations—making him a natural fit for progressive movements and political events. With songs that resonate deeply and a baritone that commands the room, Ellis offers more than entertainment—he brings purpose.

Ellis’ latest album Rambler Pacifico is a raw and urgent collection of folk-rock tracks that reflect on today's challenges while celebrating community and resilience. He’s performed alongside icons like Calexico, Paul Kelly, DeVotchKa, and John Doe, and his work has earned airplay on BBC Radio 2, Triple J, and KCSN, among others.

Currently, Ellis is mixing his highly anticipated seventh album, co-produced by Nicholas Vernhes (War on Drugs, Spoon, Silver Jews), promising another powerful chapter in his evolving sound—rich with atmosphere, honesty, and intention.

Whether he's singing about social justice, environmental protection, or the simple strength of unity, Matt Ellis brings people together—and that’s exactly what these times demand.
